Would BJP Too Target Muslim tactical leaders to Win West Bengal?
West Bengal BJP has planned & organized a rally to protest against the fact that Democracy in West Bengal is endangered under the mis-governance / more precisely, non-governance of Mamata Banerjee. They named the rally as 'Save Democracy' Rally commonly called 'RathaYatra'. However, as a prompt reciprocation of rivalry, TMC too announced another Rally & named it 'Pabitra Yatra'.
The moment I typed the word 'PABITRA' in Bangla alphabet (পবিত্র) in my Android phone, the immediate option for the next word that automatically got displayed on the keyboard was 'Quran'. Is Quran’ the only 'PABITRA' or pious thing on Earth? This raised a question. Is this the real reason why TMC named their reciprocal rally as 'Pabitra Yatra’? Did TMC mark 'RathaYatra’ a Hindu Rally? And named their reciprocal rally as ‘Pabitra Yatra' keeping in line with Pabitra Id-Ul-Fitr or Pabitra Id-Ul-Ajha etc? Would Firhad Hakim proudly call it 'Pak Safar'?
A divisive approach is being taken.
Rifts, however, are being created in some other ways too. A section of Bangali hindu hardliners, are tagging BJP too as much ‘secular’ as Congress. (please kindly note, the word 'secular' here is being used to indicate pseudo-secularism) In last 50 years, West Bengal politics centered much around capturing Muslim votes & directing & diverting public mind towards pseudo-secularism, communism & selective opportunism in the name of humanitarianism. West Bengal, as a result, gradually moved away from her roots, her own socio-religious culture. Ratha Yatra by BJP is supposed to be perhaps the first such activity that contains some Hindu flavour in it. However, the Hindu hardliners are apprehensive that this program too is named in so called secular style like 'Ganatantra Bachao' Yatra perhaps considering the Muslim population itself. They wonder whether BJP too would target the Muslim vote bank in a bit round about way! A video being viral in social media had shown a party meeting of Bengal BJP where the Minority members of the party were chanting ‘ALLAH HU AKBAR' along with ‘JAI SREE RAM'. Bengali Hindu hardliners didn’t take it in good spirit. Many others too are skeptical about it.
The hypersensitivity of Bangali Hindu hardliners about Muslims is neither unjustified nor unnatural. They’re utterly disturbed by the appeasement politics that had seen its extreme in last 7 years which resulted in sharp rise of crime incidents promoted & committed predominantly by the Islamic community. None could either forget the gruesome history of Partition nor would ever forget it.
However, after describing the public pulse, I would like to put forward a few of my own humble words in this regard.
Muslims occupy almost 30% of the population of West Bengal. Hence they were used as pawns in the political chess of the State. However, the direct benefit of appeasement didn’t transmit to the common Muslims much & enriched the clergy instead. Muslim clerics are those through which terrorists & other forms of jihadis could flourish in the State.
They appeased the clerics & ensured chunk of votes in their favour but couldn’t develop the condition of general Muslims.
Now comes the logical question, if BJP has to form an Assembly in West Bengal, is it possible or justified for anyone to expect that they would do it without caring at all for the Muslim community of the State? If that expectation exists anywhere, that is non-democratic. Neither it goes in congruence with “SAB KA SATH, SAB KA VIKAS” policy of BJP. BJP would have to address the issues of Muslim citizens too.
However, since % population of Muslims is comparatively high in the State, separatist activities, jihadi activities & various other forms of criminal activities too have increased proportionately due to incessant appeasement. Therefore, BJP would have to remain cautious that in their pursuit of doing welfare of Muslims, they shouldn’t fall in the good old trap of the same Muslim leaders who have been continuously drawing benefits from political parties for their own selves which resulted in augmentation of Jihadis in the State. BJP would have to remember that the line of demarcation between welfare & appeasement is ultra thin. If we want to transform Bengal back to its original form, Muslim clerics' & leaders' appeasement must stop as lingo-cultural invasion too is happening in Bengal through them. Muslim clerics, in the name of ‘Ashrafization’ is pushing the Indian Muslims away from Indian culture towards Arabic culture, attire, practices & expressions. BJP should never forget that the clerics organized an unconstitutional & illegal gathering in Mayo Road to demand a Muslim Police Commissioner, openly denying The Constitution of India & indirectly reminding people of the bloody riot of 1946.
Therefore, BJP being a party which puts Nationality above all, must be strict on principle to deal with Muslim Clerics. In a recent news in Bangla, Muslim clerics have reportedly expressed to withdraw their support for Mamata Banerjee.

This is perhaps a signal they’re sending for fresh negotiation for greater gain for themselves. If BJP falls in the trap of such Imams & manages to get their support in lieu of some promises to them, then West Bengal would soon get rid of Mamata Banerjee & her TMC but would never get rid of the clutch of tactical Muslim leaders/ clerics.
A common Muslim person won’t derive any benefit out of it, neither would the communal crises upon Bangali Hindus be over.
As of now, common Muslims have no other choice but to remain regimented under these leaders & the leaders too would not let the common Muslims be free from their grip for obvious reasons. However, since West Bengal had already showcased the worst form of appeasement politics, strategically it’s time for West Bengal to again be back to a bit of straightforward & value-based politics. After going to dogs, one can either perish or resurrect. West Bengal too would either perish or resurrect. BJP is expected to aim at the latter, i.e. Resurrection of West Bengal from the Decomposes of Democracy. BJP may try to convince common Muslims to vote for them, but not through their tactical leaders. The path is certainly too difficult, if not impossible. However, as I already said, as West Bengal has already gone to dogs, BJP would have to try to make the impossible possible.
However, by the instigations of the Imams of North Dinajpur, Mamata Banerjee herself may end up committing something more to them which might be more dangerous for the interest of Bangali non-Muslims of Bengal. In that case, however, polarization of votes would be more complete & the probability of non-Muslims' votes getting deposited with BJP will rise.
BJP should be in a position to communicate to the Muslims that first of all, we all are Indians. Though they’ll worship their God called 'Allah', they’ll pray at the Mosques, they’ll stick to their religious beliefs & practices, they’ll be Indians at the core of their hearts. India would be there in their souls. Their culture, attire, language should be all Indian. India is a land where we nurture diversity as our culture. The Muslims should have their minds groomed to respect that intrinsic diversity & plurality of India. Nothing else should be more important than Nationality & whatever may be their religious worship, their lifestyle should follow the Indian culture in congruence with the requirement & necessities of the land. If BJP communicates in this line, majority of the people of West Bengal would welcome them.
However, I must admit that communicating such a message is possible more through actions & not so much by words. Yet, BJP needs to remain politically alert that before being able to take any action, wrong appeasement signals must not be sent to the clerics.
BJP was born & conceptualized in West Bengal by Dr. SHYAMAPRASAD MUKHERJEE. We must not forget that at the time of foundation of Bharatiya Jana Sangha, the principal objective of Dr. Mukherjee was nation-building and nationalizing all non-Hindus by inculcating Bharatiya culture in them. That’s the only way, Dr. Mukherjee had perceived, to include all in our national fabric by establishing indomitable spirit of nationality in each citizen as the major common factor between us.
West Bengal BJP automatically inherited the responsibility to be the eligible political heir of the legacy & concepts of such an iconic proponent of Indian politics whose pragmatic & strategic politics are gaining greater importance & relevance in present day India with days passing. So, let the journey begin, towards a new, reformed West Bengal, a State which would be free from jihad, neck-deep corruption, governmental malpractices, joblessness & mediocrity of thoughts. Let the new West Bengal be home to people from all sects & strata of the society but only to those who are Indian at the core.
West Bengal must make Dr. Mukherjee's dream of nation-building & nationalizing all it’s non-Hindus come true. That is the only way to do our part to pay tribute to Dr. Shymaprasad Mukherjee, the maker of West Bengal.
