West Bengal: A Security Threat to India

I was fortunate enough to attend a meeting of Dr. Sri M M Vaidya'ji on 21st October, 2018 at Kolkata. I enriched myself listening to his enlightening talk about the present areas of National concern.

I also took the opportunity to send an email to him putting forth my own concerns about the burning issues of my State, West Bengal & suggested a few humble suggestions that could work out some solutions to them.

Given below please find my email

Respected Sir Dr. Vaidya'ji,

I was present today at your meeting at The Academy of Fine Arts, Kolkata. I felt mesmerized by your speech this evening. Please also kindly note that I've thoroughly gone through the invaluable Vijaya Dashami speech by Sri Mohan'ji Bhagwat & felt deeply inspired as he has thoroughly addressed all our national challenges to be addressed for comprehensive, all-encompassing development of Bharat.

Simultaneously however, I personally felt quite alarmed to note that all the vices & menace that are burdening our nation as mentioned by respected Sri Bhagwat'ji, are present in high concentration in West Bengal. One root cause of West Bengal being the powerhouse of menace of India today was incomplete & inappropriate partition of Bengal followed by post partition deprivation of the State by the policies of the then GOI in suitably supportive orchestration of the Communists here. The other root cause is certainly poor protection of Indo-Bangladesh border.

I'm sure that you're well aware that the length of West Bengal-Bangladesh border is as much as 2216.7 Km whereas that of Jammu-Kashmir-Pakistan border is 1222 Km. Total international border length of JK is 3176 Km whereas the total international border length of WB is comparably close, 2509.7 Km & the total length of Indo-Bangladesh border is as long as 4096.7 Km. Most importantly, many places along the Indo-Bangladesh border don't even have well-defined no man's land. There are greater no. of lacunae in terms of fencing & floodlighting too along the Eastern border in comparison to the Western one, details whereof are available in the internet.

Continuous infiltration, cross-border terror, trafficking & smuggling of different goods & human beings through the WB-Bangladesh border are well known crimes being committed regularly with indirect & passive support of the Government of West Bengal & legislators. The BSF too sometimes become vulnerable to be a part of that ecosystem.

Herein, I put forth my humble realization to you that until we're able to secure the eastern border of the country, our efforts of securing the other borders won't yield desired result for reasons that are obvious for all. It's impossible to make India free from terror, antagonizing cultural & demographic invasion etc. unless we secure the Indo-Bangladesh border. For that purpose, certain things appear to be essential at the earliest.

1. We need to have strictly defined Indo-Bangladesh border including the riverine parts. BSF posts at WB-Bangladesh border should exist at  greater frequency than that in the Western part as the Eastern border consists of densely populated plain land. Infiltrations & smuggling are easily camouflaged.

2. Two pilot projects of CIBMS (Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System) consisting of Electronic surveillance systems are to be shortly launched in the Western border. One of these 2 pilot projects should have been launched in the WB-Bangladesh border instead.

Since Bangladesh is a friendly neighbour, challenges regarding border security are supposed to be higher. Moreover, WB-Bangladesh border geographically consists of densely populated plain land. So visibility & identification of infiltrators & criminals are utterly difficult in comparison to the sparsely populated borders or rough terrain borders. Every moment, infiltrators enter in a crowd & get lost in the population jungle of the plain. Therefore, we perhaps need all together a different border management approach at the Eastern border than at the Western one where we've a time-tested hostile neighbour. However, Bangladesh from under the veil of friendship, is slow-poisoning us. We must address this with sufficient honesty & straightforwardness keeping the diplomatic friendship intact. However, since it's a matter of administrative precision of India, it should not ideally affect the International Relations between the two pertaining countries.

3. One of my humble suggestions would be that we require a special powerful surveillance satellite exclusively for Indo-Bangladesh border. AI enabled System is a dire need for all sorts of detection. Detection readiness & data availability of all cross-border transactions would automatically be of great protection for our motherland. Moreover, AI enabled border satellite data & proper usage of big data analytics thereof would enhance the motivation, ease of operations & efficiency of the BSF too.

The other humble suggestion of mine, please kindly note, is that we immediately need to declare a conclusive deadline for ending up new AADHAAR enrolment of all the people above a particular age (say 5 years) beyond which no other new AADHAAR enrolment would be done in normal course. Any further new enrolment thereafter may be done under executive judgement, investigation etc. based on cross-verifications from the relatives (a particular no. of relatives from both the paternal & maternal sides) of the concerned person. If data provided be proven wrong, citizenship to the person may be denied. However, normal AADHAAR enrolment of children below 5 years of age would continue & would require no supportive data as stated above except only the AADHAAR No. of the parent(s). Finishing new AADHAAR enrolment is a dire necessity in a State of continuous infiltration like West Bengal. And if WB isn't protected, India isn't protected. "Tukde Tukde" gang would immediately target other adjacent States after they succeed to capture WB, if not politically, culturally.

Please kindly note, cultural & linguistic invasion are the other huge threats that we're experiencing in WB. Huge number of Madrassas along the bordering districts of West Bengal & in Kolkata too & Urdu aggression therein are threatening the State culture & hence Indian culture of our land. Bengali language is also getting badly distorted both phonetically as well as spiritually as well as qualitatively by reckless insertion of arabic & urdu words in Bengali vocabulary. This is spoiling the aesthetic appeal of Bengali language. This is happening because of increasing presence of Bangladeshis in WB.

To control all these unwanted & doubtful activities of the Madrassas, it's required to make the syllabus taught at the Madrassas to be uniform & mandatorily approvable by the State Government. Thus, uniformity of syllabus of all the subjects including the religious ones taught in the Madrassas all along the State must be endorsed by the State Government. Mandatory Government Approval of Uniform Madrassa curriculum of each subject would make every pertaining authority accountable before law & hence more controllable.

Finally I would humbly present my petty last but not the least point that nation building finally converges into character building of human beings. And two generations currently living in West Bengal have been consciously spoilt by the influence of communism & 'Neo-left' ideologies as described by respected Sri Mohan'ji Bhagwat. Therefore, we'll have to give utmost importance in designing the educational & social activity curriculum for today's children of our State. Child grooming is the primary & conclusive task of nation building. And today's children can't be properly groomed by their parents as parents themselves aren't properly groomed for parenting. The Government may take up a project for day boarding schools at all the villages of the State where children would spend the whole day & be back home in the late evening. These schools may offer comprehensive parenting, grooming & education to children for building up a few generations impeccably. Many problems of our country would thus cease to exist on their own. This day boarding school Yojana may be named Rashtriya Bal Vikas Yojana.

The other thing that may be considered to be done is to make army training mandatory for ALL for a definite period of the curricula (say 1 year in the 9th Standard).

I earnestly expect that my concerns would be addressed by your kind & wise self & befitting steps would be taken to save West Bengal. If WB isn't safe, India isn't safe.

Expressing my heartfelt regards for you,

Yours truly,
Debjani Bhattacharyya

  1. Awesome! But how to get rid of these utterly poisonous leftists. Only banning them outrightly is the only solution.

    1. Time would come when this Neo-leftism would be banned as US banned Communism in the Forties. Even today 'Communist' is an abuse in America.

Neo-leftism is direct contrarian to the progress of India.
